This lovely and beautiful little covered Goodreads Giveaway has arrived on my doorstep, which is an Uncorrected Proof Copy of The Farm at the Edge of the World by Sarah Vaughan. From the cover of the book, and the font that is used, this book instantly screams like a summer book and a summer read, but with a twist. There are two blurbs, or two descriptions that comes with this book, one at the back of the book and one on the inside, at the front of the book. So lets uncover these two descriptions and get a clearer understanding of this book.
The Blurb at the Back of the Book:
“The farm sits with its back
towards the Atlantic;
a long stretch of granite,
For over 300 years
it has stood here,
steeped it the history and
secrets of one family.
A farm at the very edge
of the world.”
The Blurb Inside the Front of the Book:
“1939, and Will and Alice are evacuated
to a granite farm in north Cornwall, perched
on a windswept cliff. There they meet the
farmer’s daughter, Maggie, and against fields
of shimmering barley and a sky that stretches
forever, enjoy a childhood largely protected
from the ravages of war.
But in the sweltering summer of 1943
something happens that will have life-changing
consequences for the three of them. . .
2014. Over seventy years later Alice is back at
the farm once again, determined to atone for
the past. But has she left it too late!
Maggie’s granddaughter Lucy has also returned
to her childhood home, marriage over and
career ended thanks to one terrible mistake.
Can she rebuild herself and the farm? And can
she help her grandmother, plagued by a dark
secret, to find some lasting peace?”
Now I so want to know the mystery and secret that occurred and what happened that was so life-changing, to have affected the lives of them all. That is definitely the element that is making me want to dive in to this book! I just have to know!! Tell me now! And the book itself is so light and floppy 😀 I love it!!
