I have been lucky enough to win yet another Goodreads Giveaway, this time winning an Uncorrected Proof Copy of Nina Is Not Ok written by Shappi Khorsandi. I entered into this giveaway before I saw the eARC that I was lucky enough to be granted permission to download and read off of Netgalley. So yepp, I have already read and review this book! If you would like to see the review and a more detailed, hopefully mostly spoiler free, description of this book, please click here. This book does have really good reviews, which was why I entered into this Giveaway and requested it on Netgalley, but sadly it wasn’t for me. It did have a massive reaction out of me, even now I still talk about it, so maybe in that way, it did have an impact on me and did do what it was meant to do.
So, here is the description of this book from Goodreads:
“Nina does not have a drinking problem. She likes a drink, sure. But what 17-year-old doesn’t?
Nina’s mum isn’t so sure. But she’s busy with her new husband and five year old Katie. And Nina’s almost an adult after all.
And if Nina sometimes wakes up with little memory of what happened the night before , then her friends are all too happy to fill in the blanks. Nina’s drunken exploits are the stuff of college legend.
But then one dark Sunday morning, even her friends can’t help piece together Saturday night. All Nina feels is a deep sense of shame, that something very bad has happened to her…
A dark, funny – sometimes shocking – coming of age novel from one of the UK’s leading comedians. NINA IS NOT O.K. will appeal to fans of Caitlin Moran and Lena Dunham.”
